9/26/2019 Excel 2016 For Mac Vs Pc

Mar 11, 2016 - Excel 2016 for Mac vs Excel 2016 for Windows - posted in General Excel Problems and Solutions: This article has moved We have moved this. I have extensively used Excel on Windows for ~ 24 months and have used Windows for six years. Since the last 12 months, I have been using the Mac version of Excel (2011 version). The Mac version is pretty decent to work with.
The windows users have since produced a number of excel spreadsheets that we cannot open - the mac 'application is not responding' label comes up; it appears a generic issue rather than an install issue as all mac users find the same problem. The files open without issue when we resort back to excel for mac 2011. There appears to be a compatibility conflict between the new excel for mac 2016, and the excel 2013 running on windows 10. Is there a 'patch' or workaround that microsoft have produced for either the mac users, or our windows 10 users? I have been pointed to this forum for support from the Office365 forum. Hi, Regarding of the issue, please provide us more information to assist you better.

Thanks for coming back. Concerning your questions, please see below:. Was this issue occurred with files that create with Excel 2016 for mac?. Files were created in Excel 2013 on the Windows 10 (Surface Pro) machine. Do you mind telling us the version of your Office 2016 for mac and Mac OS?.
Yosemite 10.10.5. Excel 15.13.1. How did you share the Excel files? Email or shared network drive. Tried a number of ways. Sent via 'shared' sharepoint document link.
Sent via email with a hyperlink to the files; sent as attachments to an email. In all cases the links worked and I downloaded the documents without issue. When opening we get the failure. The documents open with no issue using excel online (accepting the reduced functionality), and Excel for Mac 2011. Were these files including some macros or a large data source?. No macros, 345 lines of text in one (161 KB) and 836 lines in another file (149 KB), not drawing information in from other worksheets or workbooks/files.
Additional info: Having switched off a 'file cleaner', I've now found the downloaded documents will eventually open (20-40 seconds) using Excel 2016, but even then scrolling around the page is very slow, with lagging (approx 1-2 seconds for each movement) making it impossible to use the documents effectively. Thanks for your attention. Best regards, Tony. Hi Tony, Thanks for your relay. According to your description, this issue occurred with download files that were created from Excel 2013.

Install updates on both the Mac and the PC and try some new files. On the PC go to the Windows Update control panel and set it so that Microsoft products are updated automatically when updating Windows. Then check for updates.
